This lucky Montreal West family is moving to California to start a new adventure, and they asked me to photograph their last little bit of time here in Montreal. It’s wonderful being a photographer when I get invited to document such a special time and to create these special memories that families will want to look back on years down the line.
They really just wanted to capture their everyday life, which I adore. I think there is such value in capturing those tiny moments that seem mundane now but when you look back on them years from now, those little mundane things will trigger such wonderful memories.
It’s stuff like making breakfast together, sitting on dad’s lap to play the piano, having a family picnic, chasing each other around the house or showing off a special drawing to mom. Those are the things that will all change as kid’s grow up and move on to other exciting challenges and adventures.
Lindsay wanted these photos to trigger memories for her children of their early life in Montreal when they looked back on them, and I think that together we caught so many of the important moments. The house where they spent their first few years, their favourite activities and just hanging out.
I want to thank them for inviting me into their home.
And wish them good luck in California!
