I recently hosted my family mini sessions in my Westmount studio and it reminded me why I like modern studio photography so much.
This beautiful family recently partook in my mini sessions and had this to say:
Wow. We are so in love with these photos! I never imagined how amazing they would turn out, especially because Jaya was so shy and not really wanting to cooperate that day. It was very easy and fun to work with you. Once we left Jaya did express how much fun she had. You really won her over!
Studios gives families an easy way to get fabulous family photos when they may not want photos in their home or it is difficult for them to book an outdoor session. And it’s easy and painless just like my outdoor or in-home sessions. Most people remark (in surprise!) how much fun it was.
And guess what, family studio photography is changing. I know a lot of us think of terrible photos of cheesy grins, awkward heads and strange matching outfits. But it doesn’t have to be that way and I feel like studio photography is having a bit of a rebirth. People understand the value of a classic portrait but realize that it can be done in a fresh, modern and relaxed fashion.
We can still get all those amazing natural moments, and I never force anything.
We still go at the child’s pace and take breaks when needed. Not every photo will have everyone looking at the camera – instead I try to capture connections.
