I have always had a lot of requests for Old Montreal Photographer for Vacation. I understand why! Tourism to Montreal has increased tremendously since the pandemic and many families and couples want to capture the beautiful sites. It was finally time for me to put together something just for families visiting Montreal. Please read below to learn more about hiring me as your Old Montreal Photographer for Vacation.
Photoshoots in Montreal for visitors in the Summer and Fall
Summers in Montreal are typically hot and humid. Our evenings typically do not cool off much. In addition we experience a lot of rain. If you are here for only a short time you must be open to the elements - it's part of the fun after all!
Fall can be rainy and cool. Because of people visiting to view the changing leaves it is actually one of the busiest seasons.
If you choose to do a photoshoot in Old Montreal during the summer or fall please note that you will have other people in many of your photos. It is a very busy area, and although we will have some private photos as well if you want to do a photoshoot that includes some of the main streets like Rue St-Paul it is very busy.
The streets are typically cobblestone and we walk quite a bit so wearing appropriate footwear is key.
You can see sample sessions here, here, here and here.
Photoshoots in Montreal for visitors in the Winter
Many visitors to Montreal are coming in the winter to experience snow and what winter is like. The reality is that it can be very cold and icy. The snow in urban settings is not really white and fluffy but often slushy and very brown and dirty.
Temperatures are typically extremely cold falling between -15C (5F) to -40C (-40F). It's cold. You will need proper winter jackets, proper mitts (leather gloves are often not enough for extended periods), toques and scarves. You will need winter boots that allow you to walk in slushy, icy or freezing conditions.
I don't want to scare you but I want to let you know the realities. Often people have a very romantic version of winter but the reality is that it can be very bitter and I want you to be prepared. I'm not helping you if your family shows up in sweaters and runners and then is freezing the entire time. In addition, if you are expecting a cute snowball fight in the streets of Old Montreal, this is most likely not going to happen. The snow is brown from sanding the streets and usually pretty dirty looking.
Should you NOT do a shoot in Old Montreal in the winter? I think that if you are prepared for the conditions, understand that the snow will not be beautifully white and bright and have an open mind it can be extremely beautiful. There are certainly less people and the streets are quieter. Around Christmas, the lights and decorations are absolutely gorgeous.
Will you all have red noses? Yes. Will you have memories of your winter trip to Montreal to last you a lifetime? Yes to that too.
I offer shorter winter shoots to take into consideration the colder temperatures.
