As a Montreal photographer I continually want to grow and improve and a huge part of doing that is just taking photos. I decided to do a little project this past week where I took 5 images of my children over 6 days of just everyday, beautiful moments. This gave me the opportunity to push the boundaries both with my photographing and with my editing a little more than I would with my personal clients. This also let’s me show how beautiful small everyday moments can be.
I was so pleased with how it turned out.
Day one started off with breakfast in the morning. It’s actually a huge part of the day for me – making the breakfasts, cutting the fruit, getting everything on the table and then off again. Getting them cleaned…
My son has shown a wonderful interest in his soccer/Sportball classes and we are lucky enough to be able to walk to the classes. I’m sure the other parents thought I was crazy taking shots through the grass, but I like how they turned out.
I give my youngest son his bath every single day and I love watching him toddle around playing with the different toys and exploring the way the water moves. And those curls! Look how long they are when they are wet!
We head to Westmount Park pretty much every. single. day. and my kids are beyond comfortable with hanging out there. Usually we do swings, then the climbing apparatus and then on to the sandbox although it always changes. Sometimes I see friends, and sometimes I hang out by himself. Sometimes my kids have friends or they play by themselves or with each other. Sometimes they throw and a fit and sometimes they are perfectly behaved. It’s always a little bit different so it’s hard to get too bored.
Haircuts are not a joyous time for my children. Both of them just hate it, although at least we don’t have to restrain Bastien anymore. But you can see he still was not loving it and was very uncomfortable. My youngest had his first cut while we were there, but he was so upset he had to sit on my lap. I’ve just decided we are never cutting those curls again.
And I sort of cheated about doing a set of photos each day because we headed to the famous Montreal landmark the Orange Julep right after the haircut for a treat. My kids had never been there and I think I’ve been there like once. You can see it was a bit of a blah day and it was a nice little activity.
