I was so excited to do this maternity session and to be an In-Home Maternity Photographer. Which is quite funny...
Because I didn't think I'd like being an In-Home Maternity Photographer. Maternity sessions seemed dull and posed and boring and awkward. But it turns out, I kind of love it. I love getting real expressions and real joy and capturing such a special part of someone's life. It may seem like a long time to be pregnant (especially those last few weeks!) but in reality, it isn't. It's short and fleeting.
The only photos I have of myself pregnant are TERRIBLE. I kind of regret it. Honestly, the thought of doing a maternity session made my stomach curl.
I thought I'd have to get into awkward poses, or make my husband do weird things he felt uncomfortable doing.
Turns out that you can just do all those things you normally do as a couple and it actually is pretty natural and real and fun.
Jessica and her husband Joshua were great and their son was pretty fab too. I am so excited for the three of them and wish Jessica the best for her birth!
Thanks for inviting me into your home to photograph such a special time guys.
