Imagine this. You've given birth, you've finally mastered changing a diaper. You are now heading home - sleep deprived and feeling overwhelmed. And SURPRISE now you have newborn photos! Here are my tips for What Parents Should Wear to Newborn Photos.
First off, my photos are lifestyle newborn images which means I have flexibility with my photography timeline. If you do not want photos taken, there is no rush. I've had parents wait up to three months to have photos.
What Parents Should Wear to Newborn Photos
- You've just given birth. Be kind to yourself. Wear something that will allow you to move and feel comfortable.
- Simple is better. We want to focus on your baby. Avoid large patterns.
- Surprise! You have boobs. Some moms are ready to show them off whereas others want a more modest look. When selecting your top, consider the amount of cleavage you feel comfortable sharing.
- A lot of new moms don't love their arms. If it's summer and you are wearing a sleeveless top consider something lighter coloured. No sleeves or long sleeves often look better than t-shirts.
- Wear what represents you. If you are a casual person, don't feel the need to dress up.
Still Confused?
I offer two solutions for tired parents:
- Custom wardrobe styling with a local stylist is included in all sessions. You can read more about what Amanda does here. She can help co-ordinate clothes, make suggestions and find links for items.
- Newborn swaddles and outfits are available to borrow. You can see them here. Parents will rarely to never invest in really nice newborn size clothing which means clothes are often too big for baby. Plus, I can assure you they will arrive clean!
In addition to the above services, I have a prep guide that offers advice for your session.
Interested in booking? I offer both in-home and studio newborn sessions. Contact me for more info.
