Montreal Mini Sessions

Every year I offer a variety of Montreal Mini Sessions. These are a very popular way to get a few great photos at a smaller price point.

A little bit more about my Montreal Mini Sessions

I have been a photographer for 10+ years and have learned a few things about mini sessions. I carefully craft and structure every session, whether it's a mini or a full session, so you get the best experience.

-Sessions run for 20 minutes and have a 10 minute buffer. This allows for a little more time and a little less stress which provides a better overall session.

-All sessions, EVEN minis, include wardrobe advice with a local stylist. This means that you will get personalized advice on what to wear for you and your family. Please note that I do not have wardrobe on-site.

-I have clear communication through my entire process (and you can read my reviews that prove it!) You will get emails with a prep guide, clear instructions for how to arrive and more. I know that prepared families are confident families and this shows in the photos.

-I offer minis throughout the year so that if you miss one you may be able to get in on one a few months later.

How I Advertise my Mini Sessions

I usually write to everyone who booked a mini the year before and provide first picks to them. After, I will advertise to everyone on my newsletter. If the sessions don't sell out I will advertise on Instagram.

I recommend that you sign up to my newsletter to get alerts for all mini sessions. You'll also get entered into a draw for a free studio photography session and join my other newsletter 3 Good Things to Know. You can unsubscribe whenever you want.

Who minis are good for

Minis are good for families:

-Who know that they just need a few photos

-Know that they can be organized and arrive on time

-Have a flexible enough schedule to make a mini session fixed date session work

Who minis are *not* good for

Minis are not good for families:

-Who have very specific schedules and can only make very certain times. If you need flexibility and know that you may need to move the session around these are not for you. I suggest you book a regular session which has more flexibility (this is essentially one of the things you are paying for with a regular session).

-Who have children who may need a long time to warm up. I suggest if you know your child is very shy a 20 minute session may not be long enough.

-Who have babies 3 months and under. Yes, I get asked every year if babies 3 months and under can do a mini. And the answer is no, and this is why. Babies get upset, they need feeding, they cry, they need their diaper changed. If you only have 20 minutes and your baby is crying the entire time, you are going to walk away super discouraged. I want to set you up for SUCCESS, and personally I do not believe a 20 minute session is enough for a babe that age. My newborn sessions are sometimes over 2 hours, to give you a comparison. They are my longest session.

-If you want family photos, grandparents, your 5 dogs and headshots for you and your spouse, a mini is too short.

-If you want your family, your sister's family and your parents, a mini is too short (although you can book concurrent minis - it's one mini per family unit)

-If you are always late and cancelling - minis aren't for you.

Michelle I want to work with you but even a mini is out of my budget

I do quite a few free sessions in exchange for social media usage.

Why?

First off - I would never want to spend half a session taking video for a regular paying client. I just don't think that's very classy.

Second - I always test out new locations as best I can. I always like to take photos of sets to show people what it looks like before hand, or new location.

I also like to do creative shoots which may or may not work out. If I have a paying client, I definitely do not feel as free to experiment with the concept. Creative shoots allow me to grow and try new things.

All free shoots are advertised via my Instagram stories. I don't usually have a lot of lead on these which is why they don't usually go out via newsletter.

You must be OK with video and photo on social media, website, Pinterest and my newsletter. You are not able to view the photos in advance or veto photos.

FAQ

Can I bring my dog?

I want a mini on April 6th. Is this possible?

Maybe. It depends on the studio and the dog. Ask me and we can have a conversation.

Minis are on set days, one after another. This is why you are getting a discounted rate. In short, no. I offer 30 minute sessions you can take a look at.

I want more than the number of photos provided. Is it possible to buy more?

I really want to bring my 2 month old to a mini session!

Yes! You can definitely buy more photos once I send the gallery to you.

Let's talk. Honestly, I just don't want you to walk away frustrated and disappointed. If your baby is upset the entire time, I do *not* offer re-shoots for minis.
